Scholar,
Which major commentary ??
Can you point me to a non-WT book that argues 607 as the fall of Jerusalem??
How can 1914 have any prophetic meaning now that the 'generation' doctrine has been changed??
Thanks.
the following information was prepared for the benefit of those who are endeavoring to assist a close friend or relative who is a jehovahs witness.
it is intended to aid a person who wishes to, in a non-confrontational manner, approach the vital foundational issue with respect to the primary doctrine of jehovahs witnesses.
it can be done without the recipient of the information even becoming aware of your intentions.

blondie,.
too bad you took a week off on you running critique of the weekly ``spiritual meal'' known as the wt study.
this time around you would have learned that jws are cleaner and less profane when using a public facility (stadium) than a pack of rabid football fans... what a revelation!
My old congregation just had a letter from the society asking if they could just keep the money that was lent by the congregation to them over 10 years ago for the Worldwide work. This is about 5000.
Of course the congregation voted to let the society keep the money.
Firstly I never knew that congregations loaned funds to the society. Secondly I wonder what the society did with the money for that 10 year period?
" for anyone not that familiar with jw lingo, it is when everyone in the congregation gets together to raise a new kingdom hall in about a week, or a weekend.

Hello Fe203 Girl !
Which quickbuild was that?
I went to one build in Wales and we packed the back of our van with cans of lager. There were more people there just socializing than actually doing anything. Anyway someone organised a football match between the Welsh and the English. My ex-girlfriends new boyfriend was in nets for them and we really couldn't stand each other!! Anyway 0-0 and then someone played the ball between me and him - I ran and slid for the ball and the ex's boyfriend simply jumped with his full weight on my leg. I was in agony - I thought he'd broken it (but he hadn't!) Anyway I was carried off the pitch and given a can of lager to ease the pain.
That was when I was told I'd actually slid the ball under his big fat backside and into the back of the net.
appeal for a meeting to the presidents of the czech and slovak republic .
in may 2000 the cosmic people of light powers appealed to the presidents of the czech and slovak republic for a personal meeting on any airport or bigger grass tract.
cosmic people did not specify any limiting conditions.

when a witness talks about a person not being "in the truth", does that get to you?
or if they self-righteously proclaim that "at least, they're in the truth and not worldly", does that push any buttons?
I had two old dears call on me a couple of days ago. They were dressed head to toe in tweed and had what can only be described as tea-coseys for hats.
As I answered the door Sister A went into her presentation and shoved the 'panda' tract towards me. Now I usually just say I'm not interested but for some reason I said "oh its o.k. my dad's an elder in a local congregation"
Well they knew him and said they'd seen him at the last Circuit Assembly. Then Sister A asks "Do you still go ?". "errr no." I replied.
Then Sister B, the sterner looking of the two looked me straight in the eye and said "Did you just leave The Truth?"
I thought two things - first they'd used a buz word with me and second the tone of her voice meant she had already condemned me!
"Well I didn't believe it anymore so I just left" I replied. They had a shocked look on their faces. They thanked me for my time and left.
there is christmas music blaring out in every shopping centre now, it started in mid-november.
it works a treat, reminds everyone to get spending.
most of it is rubbish, i feel so sorry for shopworkers having to listen to that for 7 weeks.
The best Christmas song has to be 'Merry Christmas, War is Over' by John Lennon.
I heard 'Merry Christmas Everybody' by Slade playing in a shop this weekend - why can't us Brits have just one Christmas when playing this record is banned or made illegal?
just felt i would address the mj issue seperate from the below posts.
all of mj's problems started with the jw's.
it's very obvious.
Wasn't there a song written about Michael Jackson and his monkey? I think it went...
"I'm forever blowing bubbles..."
the watchtower of march 15th, 1965. .
"earthly opportunities opened by the resurrection" .
..."there will be the "resurrection of the righteous ones," and doubtless such righteous ones will be given earlier consideration, especially those belonging to the pre-christian "cloud of witnesses" from john the baptist all the way back to righteous abel.
The word "doubtless" belongs with "evidently" and "apparently" in a group of words the WT uses to prove points when there is absolutely no proof at all!
